Heres a recently released video of the race in Durango. You can see Bob in white shirt and black shorts getting his climbing harness at the rope transition area and his teammate Jared in the bright yellow shirt talking to the camera while on the ropes.

Colorado

This last weekend Bob did an adventure race in Durango, Colorado with Jared Adams (a guy in our ward). It was a 12 hour race that consisted of 10 miles of trail running, 30 miles of mountain biking, and 20 miles of kyaking. I know - they are absolutely nuts! But, they did an amazing job, coming in at 3rd in the 2-man race!! We're so proud of you!!

Shanda (Jared's wife) and I tagged along with our kids. When we weren't cheering on our men, we went on the Alpine slides and our kids did the bungee trampoline thing. We had a blast!! The weather in Colorado couldn't be more perfect! It's always nice to get out of our Arizona heat!

Melanie graduated!

My sis graduated this last weekend with her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy at Loma Londa University! I am so proud of her! It was so fun to go visit her and little Asher. He is growing up so fast! We went shopping, to the beach and to Knott's Berry Farm. Now hopefully I can convince her to move closer!! :)

Crazy Girlz Camp

Girls Camp was last week! I love working with the young women! We have the best girls! I love them! This year, camp was very....well,....interesting. We drove up to Big Lake on Monday, set up our tents and our campsite. (We were actually roughing it this year! - unlike our two-story cabin last year! ;)) All was going well until late Tuesday afternoon when it began to get pretty windy. We were hoping it would let up, however, by evening one of our tents broke (the poles snapped in half from the wind). A couple of the wards tents next to us broke also. That night was CRAZY!! The wind was blowing our tents all around - the pole on my side of the tent would hit me in the head every few minutes as the wind blew it down. Lindalee Clement (our Camp Director for our ward) woke up at 2 am and got up to make sure everything and everyone was okay. She found our 10x20 ft awning blowing all over - the huge 10 ft poles were all bent and the whole thing was only being held down by one stake and rope. She recruited Chrissy Hamberlin to help her take the tarps off the awning so they could take it down before it blew right into our tents! It got pretty scary. Our whole stake ending up taking down Camp and leaving around 9 am Wednesday morning. We later found out that 2 humungous trees at our campsite fell down shortly after we left and the porta johns fell over. This could have been fatal had we not had the inspiration of our stake leaders to leave the campsite. So.....On Thursday we finished up Camp at the stake center. This was definitely a memorable camp experience!
